“Vedanta’s $20 Billion Investment Blitz in India: Anil Agarwal Eyes Strategic Steel Sale”

The Vedanta Group, led by Chairman Anil Agarwal, revealed plans to invest USD 20 billion in its Indian businesses over the next four years. Agarwal highlighted a focus on technology, electronics, and glass sectors alongside other group activities. He expressed a desire to support Bihar’s growth and emphasized the necessity of robust policy support.

The Vedanta Group plans to invest $20 billion in its various businesses in India over the next four years, according to Chairman Anil Agarwal. Agarwal also mentioned that they will only sell their steel business if they receive a fair price for it. Otherwise, they are committed to continuing to operate the business themselves. This information was shared by Agarwal during a company event.

Agarwal mentioned that currently, they have a plan to invest $20 billion across various sectors within the next four years. The investments will primarily target technology, electronics, and glass industries, in addition to other activities the group is involved in. Agarwal highlighted the importance of semiconductors and glass for future technologies like smartphones and laptops. He noted that the group already operates in these sectors.

Agarwal mentioned that Vedanta has land in Gujarat where they plan to build a semiconductor plant, and they are looking for a reliable and strong partner for this project.

Regarding the glass manufacturing, Agarwal noted that although Vedanta is already involved in this sector in other countries, they haven’t started operations in India yet. He suggested that they would focus on expanding their local production capacity.

When asked about the sale of their steel business, which was initially expected to be completed by March, Agarwal mentioned that the transaction is still in progress and ongoing discussions are taking place.
